June 2025: Agate Burr

Agate, aka Agnes, Egg, Nugget, Agatha, Agate but pronounced like agave, da baby, and plain ol’ Aggie, is a southern Ohio rescue Black Mouth Curr Mutt that came into our lives in 2014.This pretty, incredibly nice and super smart girl loves her family (will literally herd us to be all together), her routine, bowling and the spelling bee on tv, and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese on her food (sorry Dr. Mary, she won’t eat it any other way!) She’s the best guard dog in all of northeast Ohio (yelp reviews to back this up) and she’s also a hero dog, saving her grandma after a fall in 2022!!
Agate has a lot of anxiety, but her cousin Lucy (half shitzu half Yorkie puppy) serves as her “therapy dog.” When Aggie is having a tough time, Lucy will give her lots of kisses and snuggle with her (it is SO CUTE). Agnes is an all around amazing and lovable pup, and we are so proud of her for winning pet of the month! As Dr. Mary says, she’s a rockstar on the inside.
