FALL FLEAS AND ALLERGIES!!
Fall is here and many people mistakenly think that the fleas are gone. This is certainly NOT the case! Fleas are trying to find a warm winter home, so this is actually the time that you may notice your pet and house suddenly having a flea problem. Do not be fooled into thinking that a few cold nights have killed off the fleas! Continue to use your flea products well into the cool months. We normally recommend using flea control until we have a solid week of frost and cold weather. It is better to continue to use it than to stop too soon and become infested with fleas! Remember... the key to controlling fleas is to use a safe and effective product (such as Advantage, Frontline Plus , K-9 Advantix or Revloution) on a REGULAR , 30 day basis. If you are seeing fleas on your pet, there will be fleas (and eggs) in your home, so you may need to treat the environment along with treating your pet. Please call us for our recommendation as to which treatment would be best for your pet.
This is also the time of year that many pets have a problem with allergies. Sometimes a pet is allergic to the actual flea bite and all it takes is one bite to trigger the reaction. There are also many other things in the environment that can irritate a pet to cause allergies. Some of the symptoms are scratching, face-rubbing, biting at paws and red, irritated skin.
